Lacoste x Kidrobot Release

‘I love LACOSTE as a brand, so the opportunity to cross Kidrobot with LACOSTE was really exciting to me,’ says Kidrobot president Paul Budnitz. ‘And, I’m a sneaker fanatic and some of the new LACOSTE shoes styles just blow me away’.

Paul Budnitz and Chad Philips from Kidrobot chose three patterns that match their toy lines to use on cult sneakers from the LACOSTE collection. For the Missouri 85, Kidrobot opted to use their grey and white bones pattern. For Revan 3, an eye ball pattern that makes a colourful fashion statement. For Revan 2, the Kidrobot head logo gets a sporty update in tennis green and yellow. ‘All the shoes have details done in reflective materials; it’s a trademark design of ours, and also, it just looks super cool.’ Budnitz adds. The insole of each sneaker is also printed with the Kidrobot head logo.

Each style has a PEECOL toy wearing shorts with a tennis ball in the left pocket and a polo shirt with a larger-than-life crocodile logo across the chest. ‘It felt to me that Peecol is a natural fit. The toy has very elegant, modern lines, and at the same time, is flexible enough so we could modify it to work with the LACOSTE designs’, Budnitz explains. ‘PEECOL is a world of its own. There are dozens of PEECOL characters — firemen, cowboys, ravers, hairy monsters, eskimos in trainers, afro joggers — that represent the real people in our neighborhood. People try to collect them all, the best thing is, the bodies are interchangeable. So you can combine them to make your own PEECOL!’
