Inksomnia @ Braga Festival 2007

BRAGA FESTIVAL: BANDUNG, WEST JAVA, INDONESIA
December 29-31, 2007
There are so many cultural festivals occurring during the year in Java, and many more across the archipelago, but an interesting one that has just concluded in Bandung is the Braga Festival.

Festival showcases art, culture

Spectators got up close and personal to West Java’s traditional scarecrow in the Bebegig performance at the Wednesday opening of Bandung’s three-day Braga Festival.

Hundreds of local and foreign tourists braved the rain to attend the shows on Jl. Braga and watch performances by artists from the province’s 10 regencies and cities.

The street, which was closed for the festival, was filled with street cafes from star-rated hotels and shops and stalls promoting bamboo and ceramic handicrafts.

Provincial culture and tourism office head Idjudin Budhiana said the Rp 200 million (US$21,739) festival had not been properly promoted, which meant many people might not know it was happening.

Despite this, he said administration planned to make the festival the center of its tourism strategy.

Jl. Braga was a busy, upmarket city district during colonial times. The 1.5-kilometer street is also known for its historical buildings.

A tourist from the Hague, Marianne Burton, said she was lucky to have witnessed the festival. She is the city with her family for a three-day holiday before leaving to Yogyakarta.

“It’s perfect. I like the dances, the clothes; it’s totally different from street festivals in our country,” Burton said.

Don't forget to come and take a look at our stand.
Will also be participating ; Screamous, Two clothes, Airplane, Dloops and Inksomnia

See you there :)

Singapore Design Fesival 2007

Initiated in 2005 by the DesignSingapore Council, the Singapore Design Festival is a biennial platform to promote design and the design industry in Singapore, create opportunities for networking and exchange of ideas, and enhance Singapore as a vibrant and creative international design city. At the same time, the festival provides a gateway to Asia's design community, and Asia to the world.
This year's Festival will run from 28 November to 8 December 2007 and is made up of multi-faceted events and activities. Championing a broad range of design disciplines, the Singapore Design Festival is a key umbrella event for the industry. Contributions to the Festival programme are made by a diverse range of Singaporean and International partner organisations - they range from design businesses, trade associations, galleries, retailers, museums, government bodies, media organisations, to of course individual designers.

The Singapore Design Festival brings partners and audiences with the widest possible range of interests together to explore design issues, do business, exchange ideas, and have fun. Events staged as part of the Festival range from major international presentations to Singaporean showcases to trade events, alongside award ceremonies, talks, workshops, product launches, open houses and designer parties.

The Festival aims to transform the design culture in Singapore and from around the world into an interactive and "live" presentation of the design process. All of this is made possible by the fact that Singapore is an increasingly emerging creative design hub with a dynamic pool of local and international design talents and design-led companies. As the city where diverse cultures converge and multi-national businesses gather to trade thoughts and commerce, the Singapore Design Festival is fast becoming recognised as a key event on the international design calendar.

Always a Better Way

The theme for the 2007 Festival: ''Always a Better Way''', is inspired by the essence of design-thinking: through design, design challenges itself to find a better solution or alternative. It is a mindset that encourages people to think, experiment and innovate in convergent and divergent ways, bringing about possibilities and opportunities with the constant strive for the best.

I will put some more news after i attend this crazy event
